| Occupations in this unit group are primarily concerned with fitting clients with prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses, assisting clients in the selection of eyeglass frames, arranging for the production of eyeglasses or contact lenses and mounting lenses in eyeglass frames. Student opticians and supervisors of opticians are included in this unit group. | ||
| Exclusions | ||
| ▪ | Optometrists examine eyes, prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses in addition to fitting eyeglasses and are classified in unit group D021 - Optometrists. | |
| ▪ | Managers of optical dispensing departments or of optical retail outlets are classified in unit group A211 - Retail Trade Managers. | |
| ▪ | Optical laboratory technicians are classified in unit group D313 - Other Aides and Assistants in Support of Health Services. | |
